Based on Transcend Game you would think Kaiba found a way to survive. Like that has to be the point of Kaiba going into that machine again because that's what the material sets up to happen.
He tries once, almost dies. Says he'll find a way despite what it should do.
Tries bringing Atem here, fails.
Tries again having found a way to do it without killing himself.
I really likes the cold ending idea though.
However the end of the Duel, at least from the tumblr spoilers and how Atem and Yugi are doing it together implication suggests that they are helping Kaiba grow and that would be pointless if he offed himself.
The ending to me feels like the duel that we never get to see will be the one where he finally wins.
